In addition to academic scholarships available through the university, music scholarships are awarded each year to students based upon both their musical abilities in both the classical and jazz areas. You must be a music major to be eligible for a School of Music scholarship.
Undergraduates – A jazz audition is required for any student wishing to be considered for a U.O. jazz scholarship. Auditions for jazz scholarships follow the same format as those outlined in the B.M. in Jazz Studies Admission audition procedures. Qualified students are encouraged to audition in both classical and jazz areas. Herbert J. Merker Jazz Combo Scholarship Endowment – Scholarships of app. $1000 are awarded to each member of the JazzArts Oregon Combo. Musicians are selected for the ensemble annually in a talent-based audition open to all new and returning students prior at the beginning of each academic year.
