Each year the UO Jazz Studies Program welcomes internationally renowned guest artists in the jazz and commercial music field to the University of Oregon campus. They come to share their expertise and to actively engage in music making with our students, performing with student big bands and combos, working with our student composers and arrangers, sharing their latest work through both lectures and in concert. We have been fortunate to host a virtual who’s who of guest artists, including:
Maria Schneider, Camille Thurman, Branford Marsalis, Julian Lage, Ben Wendel, Burt Bacharach, Rufus Reid, Marcus Roberts, Donny McCaslin, Terrel Stafford, Fred Hersch, Marshall Gilkes, Dave Douglas, Dennis Chambers, Jeff Ballard, Luis Bonilla, Ingrid Jensen, Theo Bleckman, Ben Monder, Jaleel Shaw, Walter Smith III, Sean Jones, Ulysses Owens Jr., Kendrick Scott, Roxy Coss, and Dezron Douglas to name but a few.
